Spring Break Adventures

Spring break was fun this year.  I played catch with my football with Shelby. I decided I'd become a great mini-quarterback for the BYU football team. We played Shelby's Wii games one day and I just kind of hung out until Friday. Mom took Friday off work and in the afternoon, we took a little drive down to Utah Lake to see how full it was. It was super full. The fields (called Wride's Pond) were very full of water with lots of ducks, geese and pelicans. I went to the doctor's office with Dad that afternoon, too.

On Saturday, I went to get my hair cut by Gillian and then I asked Mom to take me to the BYU library because I wanted to see how big it was.  It was heaven!  One of the books we found was called "Slang Dictionary." It was pretty funny. (Mom kept turning some of the pages, though because there were some bad words in it.) Mom took me all around the library. I hope to find a book of idioms there soon.

Then we met up with Kaitlin who had just come from a final. We talked to her for a while before she had to go to an interview. Mom let me take a lot of pictures with her little camera.

I thought this was a cool tree. Mom said it is the same kind they have planted in our front yard. I took this picture after Mom helped me get it straight.

Mom had to help me with the picture of the Y because I couldn't see it in the camera since the sun was so bright. We shared the camera.

And to top it all off, I just want to say I have been taken by angels to good heaven because it was the best spring break of my life without any school, homework, etc.

Snazolla

Mom surprised Ammon yesterday afternoon with a new suit - his very first one. He wasn't sure he liked the color at first and wanted a dark blue one. Mom said those are boring. Once he got the suit on, he decided it was pretty nice. We had tried to purchase one for Christmas a year ago but they didn't sell the suit jackets and slacks separately. If they don't sell them separately, then we can't buy them because Ammon's arms are so long and his waist to tiny that they definitely aren't the same size. This suit was sold as a separate so Mom grabbed it.

Ammon thought Mom's word, "Snazolla" was pretty dumb when she said he was a real snazolla - he looked absoultely, postively snazzy! He wore the suit to Jess' ward today and he looked pretty dapper.

April Fools

You all know that Mom loves April Fools Day. Ammon has been obsessed about playing some kind of prank on somebody this year so I quietly decided that I would play one on him. About a month ago, when I was getting him ready for bed, as I took off his shirt, I noticed that one of my knee high nylons was stuck inside his shirt sleeve. Apparently the dryer and the shirt had a love affair with that nylon. He had worn it all day at school and no one noticed. I laughed and laughed. Ammon was totally embarrassed but he insisted that I had done it on purpose. Nothing I said would convince him otherwise. So I decided that I would purposely do that for April Fools.

Unfortunately, he found one stuffed up his left sleeve just before he left for school.

Fortunately, he didn't find the second one and wore it to school!

On a more serious note, Ammon has a scheduled appointment with the bishop a week from Sunday to get a recommend to get his patriarchal blessing. He is so excited. So are we.

The Sound of Music

On Tuesday, we attended Ammon's choir concert. Once again, they really did a great job. They sang "Gloria Canon" by Haydn, "over the Sea to Skye" by Joyce Elaine Eilers and "Joshua Fit the Battle!" arranged by Jill Gallina. They joined the concert choir and chamber singers at the end to sing "River Song."

There was definitely a beautiful sound of music!

And then........ drumroll please......

Ammon earned enough money by doing chores to buy.....

"THE SOUND OF MUSIC!"

I think he has listened to it at least five times. He told me today that several songs in the movie have great life lessons. Those would be "I Have Confidence," "Climb Every Mountain," and "My Favorite Things."

He hasn't stopped talking about this movie or stopped singing the songs since he got it.

We definitely have the sound of music in our household right now.

Exploitation

Ammon has been a little lazy lately with his blog. I decided to share something funny that he said the other day.  In our conversations last weekend, he was lamenting the fact that Lance and David had moved away. I told him that after Kevin graduates, he and Gillian may move away as well. He looked confused and asked me why. I told him that Kevin might have to find a job in a different state and they would move wherever they got a job. Ammon seemed to accept it for that moment. The next day he said, "Let me get this straight. First David moves. Then Lance moves and now you're telling me that Gillian might move too?" "Yes, that's what I'm telling you," I replied.  Then Ammon said, "Why does everybody exploit me?!"

In the middle of my laughter, I got out of him that he thought exploit meant abandon or neglect. Nope- new word, new meaning.

Guys, every time you move, you abandon him. I'm glad you are not exploiting him.

Paradise

I KNEW SANTA WOULD BRING IT!!

Ammon told me that he really wanted Epic Mickey, a Wii game. He said he knew Santa would bring it. I asked him how he knew that and he said, "I know Santa pretty well."  "Really," I said. "How do you know he's going to bring this game to you? Did you talk to him?" Ammon said, "In my head. I talked to him in my head."  When he opend his gift, Epic Mickey was there. This is his reaction.  Ya think he's excited?

He also got "Despicable Me," and some books from Lance and Nancy. He got "Captive" from the series "Guardian of Ga'Hool" and also got "The Voyage of the Dawn Treader."  He has already started reading "Captive."

Ammon had a happy Christmas. He didn't ask for a lot. He received some other movies from Jess and Jen, manly stuff in his stocking from Kaitlin, cologne from Kevin and Gillian and even some boxer shorts, which he had asked for. :) We'll see how that works out.

Oh, yeah, and he got lots and lots of Hershey candy.

The Best Week of My Life!

Ammon had a busy week. On the 16th of December, his school held their Christmas choir concert at Salem Hills High School.  Jim, Chris, Adam, Ella, David, Kaitlin, Gillian and Kevin were all there to applaud for him and their great choir! They did a fantastic choir and it was a fun evening. Afterward, we all stopped at Fast Gas to get our hot cup of hot chocolate and then drove around Salem pond to see the beautiful lights.

Ammon was especially excited for David to come home for the holidays. David flew in from Fairfax, Virginia Thursday afternoon - just in time to go to the concert. Ammon has been so excited. David's wife, Tana and their new baby went on to Washington state to attend Tana's brother's wedding. Tana and little Ansleigh will be here tonight!  Sunday, Dec. 19th. Ammon can't wait!

Sunday, Dec. 19th he also had the special privilege of attending the Mormon Tabernacle Christmas concert with guest artists David Archuletta (!) and Michael York, the British actor. We got special treatment from many of the people that work in the Conference Center and they let us in before anybody else got to go in. We had tickets for the Terrace, but they told us to go down on the floor - just for Ammon. We had great seats and easy access out after the concert was done. In the middle of the concert, Ammon leaned over to me (his mom) and said, "This is the BEST week of my life!" He was so excited to hear David Archuletta sing and we were very impressed with the beauty of his voice and the wonderful performance all around.

The set was magical. The day, as early as we had to get up to leave (5:45 a.m.) was magical. It was worth every tired moment.

E Bay Comes to Elk Ridge

Some of you may remember that Ammon wanted to see if we could buy a Cough Assist machine from E Bay when he found out that Shriner's Hospital wouldn't let us take it home with us. We had a good laugh over that one but today, 2 years later, he got the Cough Assist machine thanks to the work of his pulmonologist, Dr. Pfeffer.  The respiratory therapist brought it over and taught me how to use it. It basically breathes in for 3 seconds and then sucks the breath out at a higher rate for another 3 seconds. Ammon's lips would go out and then would be sucked back in looking like he had the g-force of a fighter jet. When the series was over and the mask was taken off, we asked, "How was that?" He got a huge smile on his face and said, "That was gooooooddddd!"

I've said it before and I'll say it again -- he's weird!

My New Nephew

Yesterday afternoon I got to go up and see my new nephew, Austin Thomas Clark. He is really cute and he is really little.  I LOVE little babies. He is the cutest ever.
