The breathing tube was removed about 11: 00 a.m. this morning, Sept. 2, 2008. This is a red letter day for Ammon. The respiratory therapist will still have to work hard to suction him through his nose and throat (which Ammon hates) and give him treatments. The next few hours are critical that they get the junk that's in his lungs as clear as possible so they won't have to re-intubate him later. Now we keep our fingers crossed and pray a lot!

The tube is out now and he's trying to smile. I don't know for sure that he is really happy at this moment because he's tired and still pretty sick. He's looking good. We just hope that he is able to cough some on his own to help things out.

Hooray! Ammon, we're so happy you're doing better today! I'm glad you'll be able to talk to us again the next time we visit (although we still enjoyed the waves and smiles yesterday!)

Kudos Ammon! I'm glad to see you are doing well and looking good.
I have been thinking about you all day, Ammon. I am so glad that you got your tube out. I wish I was there to come up and see you. I am really glad that Mom and Dad have been able to be there for you as has Jess and his family and everybody else that has been able to visit you. It is never any fun to be in the hospital. We all love you and hope that you heal quickly.
I'll see you next month. Be good and remember, your nurses are already married.
